Elvis's grandfather Jessie D Presley was born in 1896,
the father of Vernon Elvis Presley.
He was often regarded as the 'bad apple' of the family
and has been described as being 'mean as hell'.
He was married to Minnie Mae hood,nicknamed "Dodger,
"(she died at the age of 92 in 1980 and is buried
next to her grandson Elvis's grave at Graceland).
they divorced in august 1954,after Minnie claimed he was living with another women.
apparently, He used to like his drink,dress sharp,and was a womanizer.
After there divorce Jesse made his way to Louisville
Kentucky, although he was carpenter
by trade, he became a night watchman at the local
Pepsi-Cola plant.
when Elvis was in the army he wrote to his Grandfather and sent him Christmas cards .These
were auctioned in 1995 as part of the Elvis Museum
collection.
Jesse was rightly proud of his Grandson and kept a
collection of scrapbooks about him.
Elvis played in Louisville Kentucky On the 7Th November
1971 and introduced his Grandfather to the crowd.
Jesse died at the age of 77 of a heart attack on
Monday the 19Th March 1973,and is buried in Louisville,Memorial Gardens, Kentucky, USA. Elvis did not attend his funeral.
