Elvis Presley My Happiness Was Written by Betty Peterson and Borney Bergantine. This is the first song recorded by Elvis at Sun Records, which was previously named Memphis Recording Service. In August 1953, when he was 18 years old, Elvis recorded a $4 acetate with My Happiness on one side and That's When Your Heartaches Begin on the other. It is reported that Elvis recorded the song for his mother, but he took the recording to the home of Edwin Leek, Jr., a classmate at Humes High School, and played it for Leek and his grandmother because Leek reportedly is the person who urged Elvis to go to Memphis Recording Service. Elvis left the demo at Leeks home and never asked for it back. The demo surfaced in 1988, and was not released until after that time It is available on Great Performances and The King of Rock n Roll-The Complete 50s Masters.
